Memphis

Music and Lyrics by David Bryan, lyrics and book by Joe DiPietro

Memphis is loosely based on the first white DJ to play black music in the 1950s, Dewey (Daddy-O) Phillips. In spite of the barriers of prejudice and oppression, Phillips and the phenomenal talent he featured on his radio show sing, play and dance in the raucous birth of rock and roll. Filled with high-energy numbers, this musical won four 2010 Tony awards, including Best Musical.
